Ready, Set, Shop!

18 Dec

I’ve tried to think of some great catch phrases for reasons to come to Frankenmuth to finish up your shopping.  All I could come up with is, Why Not?  “Shop local” are strong words in today’s struggling economy and in small towns like ours.  It is not only important to our community’s growth, but also to continue traditions in making Frankenmuth feel magical this time of year as it comes alive with all the holiday hustle and bustle.  If it has been a while since your last visit to Frankenmuth (or perhaps you have never had the opportunity visit), we invite you to experience the Christmas wonder that our city provides.  Below are suggestions for a one or two day shopping adventure.

It’s always festive in Frankenmuth.  The lights, the decorations and the holiday cheer is all around us.  We might be well known for chicken, but that  isn’t all that we do;we also have some wonderful shopping opportunities.  Start your adventure on Main Street.  Parking is avalable – at the Bavarian Inn – take stride to the street and work up a healthy appetite while shopping the several specialty shops on Main Street.  Don’t forget to stop by the Frankenmuth Cheese Haus for a cheese tasting.   They have hundreds of wonderful cheeses (made right on site!) and several to sample to get your taste buds buzzing.

Just down the street south of the Cheese Haus, is the Covered Bridge and Leather Shop.  They are more than just leather with a wide variety of gifts for every age.  After all that shopping take a break at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant’s Roof Garten for lunch.  Serving soups, salads, sandwiches and other small meals all day. By now you may have a large amount of baggage to drop off at your Bavarian Inn Lodge hotel room.  Just drop off the bags at the front desk and we’ll take them to your room!  Don’t forget, if you are craving pizza anytime during your shopping then we suggest trying out the Ratskeller’s (located in the Family Fun Center of the Bavarian Inn Lodge) it’s the best in town!

After lunch, head on over to Frankenmuth River Place, just south of the Covered Bridge and Leather Shop on Main St.  They have their own parking and easy access into this wonderful outdoor shopping mall.  There is olso free shuttle that runs continuously on the weekends between the Lodge, Restaurant and River Place.  With over 30 shops, Frankenmuth River Place has everything you need to finish off your Christmas shopping.  Styled in Frankenmuth’s delightful European village
theme, River Place shopping includes Michigan’s largest beading supply store, Yankee Candles, casual clothing, gifts for your pet, a day spa and salon, home décor, jewelry, seasonal gifts, toys, popcorn, fudge, candy and more!  They have it all.  Make sure to use your coupon book that you received as a hotel guest of the Bavarian Inn Lodge!

The last stop on our Main Street shopping venture is Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland.  This stop could be taken the same day, but recommended as a next day stop as Bronner’s is so large it can take you hours to see everything.  Bronner’s features over 50,000 trims and gifts, including artificial Christmas trees, Christmas lights, Nativity scenes, Christmas decorations, collectibles, and more. Every evening Bronner’s ½-mile long Christmas Lane glistens with thousands of twinkling lights and is a sight to see. Take a drive around the vast parking lot to enjoy all CHRISTmas decor.  Visit the Silent Night Chapel for a moment of reflection on the true meaning of the season.

Merry CHRISTmas from our Family to Yours!
